01/ THE CHALLENGE

Lambert Group had quite old IT infrastructure across all of their Eastern seaboard sites. It was a centralised VPN solution that had a bottleneck for solid connectivity across the network. Extremely slow Internet speeds which affected usability and an old Avaya PABX which was located in their Sydney office, that relayed/delayed calls back and forth to sites. Lambert was looking to overhaul their communications and move forward with technology. Collaboration was a key topic and without sufficient bandwidth this was unachievable. Issues to be resolved included poor Internet speeds and the inability to have visibility over the network. Overall implementation costs were also key considerations plus managed services as they had no internal IT resources. Covid-19 and the move to remote working amplified the problems caused by this lack of decentralisation.

02/ SOLUTION

Multi carrier connectivity + wifi / SD-WAN & Security / MS Teams / vCTO / Managed Services

burningWAN reviewed the current requirements and designed a managed SD-WAN solution to create one network for all three sites. It’s a total rip and replace of the LAN networking infrastructure including the Avaya PABX. burningWAN conducted adequate site surveys for the fast fibre deployment to solve the poor connectivity issues. Lastly, we proposed a collaboration solution via Microsoft Teams to increase productivity and efficiency between employees for all things “meet, chat, call & collab”.  Teams also allowed for the old PABX to be replaced with Teams Calling to make and receive calls, further reducing hardware and call costs.

03/ OUTCOME

As a result Lambert now has a single robust network with enhanced security and visibility allowing better control over access to the network and preventing unauthorised or malicious access. Fast Fibre internet connectivity with speeds up to 1GB and full cellular 5G integration for backup and redundancy. Evolved voice communications & collaboration with all voice & video calls now are handled inside Microsoft Teams along with meet and chat features, which increases productivity, agility and lowers operational difficulty. The entire IT solution is wrapped in a managed service for fast, reliable & proactive customer care.

The new solution puts them in a perfect position for further office expansion and the flexibility to work anywhere, anytime reducing the environmental risk in a post Covid-19 world.
