The Boathouse is a group of unique and iconic hospitality venues located at beautiful waterside locations around Sydney, Australia.

01/ THE CHALLENGE

The Boathouse Group approached burningWAN with a range of challenges. The primary concern was poor network performance, experiencing multiple drop outs across all venues. Each site was operating in silos with old, unreliable networking hardware including servers that needed to be disposed of in order to run a cloud first business.

The next challenge was locations; because their venues are situated across coastal areas, there is a lack of quality Internet infrastructure for coverage, meaning burningWAN couldn’t just switch over carriers or flip a switch to bring services online. We had to design a customised solution to provide the connectivity, stability and support that Boathouse needed. And lastly, the lack of customer care and fast response to resolution wasn’t satisfactory for their operation.

02/ SOLUTION

Multi carrier connectivity + wifi / SD-WAN & Security / Smart Cameras / Hosted Voice / Managed Services

burningWAN designed, procured and revamped the IT infrastructure across all venues, to ensure once the new solution was in place, quality of service would be at the highest levels.

We integrated all sites to a centralised secure SD-WAN network including switching, routing and access points. Delivering multi-carrier 5G cellular, wifi and fibre connectivity services with a upgraded cloud based voice solution under one managed network. Including Smart Cameras for surveillance and trialing. The additional access to our engineers and account management team was also a plus for quality customer care.

03/ OUTCOME

burningWAN has taken what were 12 separate business locations and united them through our cloud first, software defined solution.

Utilising our expertise in the telecommunication and IT industry, we have provided an end to end managed IT solution to a fractured business.

The Boathouse Group is now running all technology including their POS, EFT, Bump Screens and all things IT related through the new SD-WAN solution. Since burningWAN has taken over communications and service management, The Boathouse has added additional sites and services to their group, for which we have provided full design, deployment and infrastructure solutions.

As a result, the initial headaches of poor network performance, management and customer care has been eliminated. It’s enabled a more productive and efficient working environment for their team.
